The Southeastern Chamber defines diversity and inclusion through a millennial concept and sees it as a generation gap between boomers, gen-Xers, and millennials.

Millennials view diversity as the blending of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives within a team, and view inclusion as the support for a collaborative environment that values open participation from individuals with different ideas and perspectives that has a positive impact on business.

Baby boomers and gen-xer’s view diversity as a representation of fairness and protection to all, regardless of gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

The Chamber believes that the Millennial viewpoint is vastly important, because in just 10 years, millennials will comprise nearly 75% of the workforce and are projectable for not staying in one position for long.

The Southeastern Chamber also believes workforce diversity and understanding community and international relations are the key components that helps fosters this millennial approach. In June of 2016, the Chamber developed a Diversity & Inclusion Council to focus on Economic Environment. The Council studies more of the traditional diversity and inclusion variables as well, such as the projected amount of Foreign Owned Firms that operate in its headquartered State, how many workers such firms employ, amount of minority own businesses in the Chamber and the amount of women owned businesses in the Chamber. This study is conducted for archive and factual resource development.

They have created the implementation of a Southeastern Chamber Diversified Talent Development Fund focusing on four areas of Workforce Diversity Executives, Emerging Leaders Roundtable, Women in Leadership Council and the Young Entrepreneurs Circle. Diversity & Inclusion is a continual area of development and focus across the Southeastern Region and the Chamber strives to enhance its understanding by educating and informing more States, cities and counties about understanding its generational denotations for impacted awareness and overall growth.
